When I accompanied Young Lady to her open house for classical dance, one of the mothers I know (who knows about our dog drama) said, “So this weekend will be relaxing right?”
I quickly responded, “No, it never slows down!” forgetting that I had indeed told her I wouldn’t be setting any engagements for this weekend, and that it was going to be a slow one so that we could recover.
But I suspect what is slow for me is not slow for everyone else. We had the open house (Young Lady always has dance on Friday nights and this week we were allowed to come and watch the class)
and then of course we have our usual Friday night Bible Discussions followed by a meal (and then Saturday morning I teach, and then Saturday afternoon we had the dog trainer coming, and then Sunday we have church in the morning, and I had forgotten that I had promised to bring cupcakes to “tea” with another family on Sunday afternoon, which had to be made, of course). You see? This is my slow. I’ll admit it could be slower.
Anyway, the open house was lovely. Feel free to click below in blue to see some of the class, which is largely for the benefit of grandparents and aunts and uncles. That’s Young Lady there right in the front.
Still can’t embed a video to save my life, but click here.
Following that we did have our group, but we only had dinner and no discussion because we were too tired to prepare one. But we are all good friends and everyone cooks so this is not stressful for us.
And surprise surprise! Well, if they haven’t gone and planned a birthday celebration for me since we hadn’t met last week. I did not expect that at all!
Pastries from the only gluten-free bake shop in Paris (36 rue Bichat in the 10th I think, near République). The réligieuse on the left there was sublime and it was all, all for me!
And a potted plant that caused me to joke that we wouldn’t need to get a Christmas tree.
but which looks very fine on the upstairs landing.
I’ll save the dog trainer story for another time (oh help) and just say that – overall, when surrounded by friends and family -

Friends ARE the best. Glad you have good lovely ones.
