Light on a dusty shelf. It’s such a poetic title, huh? Not, like, a real thing at all.
Wednesdays are my crazy days, so a few pictures and a video are just the way to send you a quick bonjour. My husband and I noticed, in the warm light of early morning, that his great-grandfather’s bottle, which sits on the mantle, with “oxalate and eau de pluie” written in his own handwriting (he was a doctor), was catching some beautiful rays,
and casting the light on the wall.
(That was a run-on sentence with too many commas.)
And then we (I) realized just how dusty the mantle and the bottle really were.
But I mean, like, what – am I supposed to dust regularly?
The roses over the well have bloomed now that we finally have a little sun and warmth.
They even have a scent this year.
Grape foetuses are so funny looking.
But kiwi vines look just like their fruit. I hope we get some soon.
And the sage is blooming, which I find to be such a beautiful herb.
At least it’s high up so Hunter can’t pee on it, like he does on the thyme.
Speaking of Hunter, sometimes even the hopeless …
can be redeemed.
And finally, a look to the heavens at the end of the day
from a lady in France who sees the light but is ignoring the dust.

Gorgeous. I LOVE when colored glass casts neat-o shadows like that, too. And run-on sentences? Are awesome. (As is reinventing the rules of “grammar.”)

I say we go on strike. No more of those pesky grammar “rules.” (But see how I couldn’t resist putting the period inside of the quotes)?
Jennifer says
Always ignore the dust. Life is more fun that way.

Now there’s a command I can live with. 😉

Ooh, the light casting is beautiful and awesome!
Run on sentences with commas – that’s wrong? Oh dear. 🙂

I seriously think blogging has changed the grammar rules for better or worse.

I never realize that I need to dust until it’s at least an inch thick. Lovely photos. 🙂

Your garden is always lovely.
I really love the bottle pictures. There is something so soothing about light filtering through colored glass.

Especially if it’s yellow glass, right?

Great pictures as usual. The roses are beautiful. And who cares about dust? Not me, evidently, as my home is covered in it. Housekeeping has been slacking lately.

Housekeeping is always lacking here – that’s probably why we’re friends. 😉

Hey, I didn’t have look up eau de pluie! Once a week French lessons ARE helpful.
Love Your roses

They are, they are! You’re a rock star mom. 🙂

Dust? What’s that? I thought it was a special fairy coating on the wood.
Weird.
I bet that your garden smells awesome right about now.

It especially does right now because we had a huge thunderstorm. However the dog is still cowering in fear and can’t relax.

We might be able to compete on the dust factor. Even when I lived in the desert I didn’t have as much dust as I do here.
Carole says
That well looks like something in a storybook. Is it working?
Love those bottles.

It does work! But we haven’t checked to see if the water is okay to drink. We use it to water the garden.
