Would it bore you to see our tree?
Because some people are really excited about it around here.
And there’s a thrilling story behind the tree purchase too. I don’t know if it’s the same near you, but Ikea trees are only 20€ and if you bring it back, they donate a euro to re-forestation and give you the other 19€ in store credit.
So Sir ambitiously took the kids on Saturday morning while I was teaching my English classes. Usually he takes them swimming, but this was a timely break because Petit Prince had a petit accident in the pool last week, which precipitated the evacuation of the entire basin.
Anyway, the line for the trees at Ikea stretched in traffic all the way into the roundabout! When Sir and the kids finally made their way in for the plunder, all they could see was a sea of stubby trees. Seriously, none of them were higher than chest-high! On a short person!
Sir asked if there were no bigger trees, and the worker responded that there were indeed (accompanied by an ironic look that belied his words) but that it depended on the shipment.
So after strolling around for a bit, Sir spotted a huge crate of trees that had not yet been displayed. The crate was taller than him. He noticed one of the trees on top stretched the entire length of the crate and spilled out over the end.
So he climbed up and pulled it down.
And boy, were the crowds milling around our tree looking dangerously vulture-like.
“Where did you get it?”
“I just climbed up on the crate and pulled it down.”
(resigned) “Oh.”
But it was my man dat got da tree and he was not letting it go!
It’s not enormous, but it’ll do.
Oh were the kids excited to decorate.
And they took it very seriously so as to not break anything.
(an unsuccessful venture, I might add)
Would it also bore you to see our family portraits while we’re in this festive mood? Well, actually it’s just the kids. I was lying on the couch trying not to get sick (and making myself useful by putting the hooks in the ornaments), and this meant there were unsightly neck rolls visible from lying down and looking down.
Anyway, this is as good as it gets from us – there will be no Christmas cards going out this year and a blog replacement shall have to do.
So here they are saying cheeeeeeese.
saying fromaaaage.
(huh huh).

Glad your man got the tree that was meant for you! The kids are darling, by the way.
And I want to see pictures of you….. soon!

Ugh. Seriously, every time I look in the mirror I feel even more sick. I think I finally start to “glow” around the 7th month or so, and then I will post some pics. 😉

This is the opposite of boring.
(Which means “delightful”)
in any language.
(The French IKEA kind of rocks, huh?)

So Ikea doesn’t do that everywhere? France is pretty environmentally-conscious, which I love! But you still need a marriage counselor at the Ikea checkout to cope with the stress of it all, just like you do in every other country. 😉

I love your tree and the kids in front are simply perfect! No need for a card!
I do hope that you start feeling better soon though. Going through the holiday with kids feeling sick all the time can’t be much fun at all.

Your kids are beautiful AND you are an awesome photographer!!!! You may have another calling.

Hey, why not avoid paper waste by omitting cards?
Missy | Literal Mom says
I love that you let kids decorate the tree with you. I have friends who won’t let their kids help at all because they’ll “mess it up.”
Sad, sad, sad.
ladyjennie says
Okay sometimes I won’t let my kids help with the baking if it’s for a purpose and not pleasure. But the tree??? It’s for the kids! I agree. Sad.

Wonderful Christmas card!
Kudos to Sir on the tree. 🙂

Gorgeous tree! (What type is it?) The photos of the children are great.
ladyjennie says
Hi Mandy – thanks for visiting! I’ll pop by as soon as I can. You know, I have noooooo idea what tree it is! The main thing is that we got as big as possible considering the pitiful selection. 🙂
