Well I’m a little slow on the uptake for a post today because I want to do a giveaway (that is where my mind has been) but I haven’t yet received the articles in question to take pictures and woo you with them.
So in the meantime, I will leave you with a few photos of the children’s “spectacle” (pronounced speck-tah-kl) That means “piece of theatre” in French and is probably where the word “spectacular” comes from.
We have the perfect stage, though it’s a bit bleak.
And here comes our first Thespian from back stage.
Oh! They are fighting over an umbrella.
He’s dead. (His tongue is hanging out).
Petit Prince is watching (and chewing his coat) with interest.
With his shoes on backwards again.
Oh! Hi Young Knight – is that you? You’re cute.
“Take a picture of the whites of my eyes. The whites!”
Veeeery cute. Young Lady is searching for her lines.
Oh there’s more? Okay. Wonderful. I’m so excited.
So you’re fighting over the umbrellas again.
Aw that’s nice, Young Knight, to hand yours over to Young Lady.
No question who’s in control here. That’s it? The bow?
Petit Prince wants his turn now. Of course.
What else is there to do but run around in circles?
Well kids that was just spectacul … wait, is that snot in your nose?
Oh. Never mind.

All the world’s a stage or at least a small section of your yard. AWESOME.

And who said children were not entertaining??

I hope you sell tickets to their next show. I want to attend!

This is the post that I needed today. Sweetly entertaining 🙂

That was a perfectly lovely spectacle. What a great little stage corner you have in your yard – a wonderful blank space to fill with creativity and fun.

When my girls were small, we had this house with an elevated foyer. It was the perfect stage. My girls had countless shows in that foyer. And every time we had company, the night always ended in a show, much like your magnificent drama. My girls would have loved your stage. It’s perfect for fighting dragons and umbrella wars and everything and anything. This post has made me ache with nostalgia for those sweet days. Enjoy every bit of it.

Your children are awesome 🙂

Thespians, like their maman! Love it.

Ahh, the stage. I love how children jump at the chance to perform whenever such a site presents itself! And how all shyness just vanishes…. They don’t even care who’s watching (as long as someone is!). I will be so sad when they reach an age when the opportune stage no longer beckons.

Hee! So,. Much. Fun! Love this! 🙂

Spectacular, indeed.
(Even with shoes on backward…)
The Flying Chalupa says
Yep, the shoes on backward look very familiar. What about the underwear and pants? Are they on backward too? Because in our house, the cartoons HAVE TO BE IN THE FRONT!
Love the pics!

So cute…although the white eye thing is sort of freaking me out. I get freaked out easily.
PS: I’m slow on the uptake too! It took me 3 days to find time to read and comment on this fabulous post. 🙁

Yes the whites of the eyes freaks me out too!

That stage looks so Lower East Side-artsy: I love it!! And the randomness of the ‘spectacle’ would fit perfectly with the performance art scene.
Thank you for sharing!! What great memories. So fun!! 🙂

At that age, one should have many, many fifteen minutes of fame 😉

Remember using our front porch for a stage?
ladyjennie says
I remember acting any ole chance I could anywhere anytime! 🙂

The children are beautiful, Jennie. They look just like they both of you 🙂 Reminds me of when I was a child … all the neighborhood children put on a play in a garage, complete with costumes and everything. We even charged a quarter for admission!
