I don’t usually participate in link-ups, mostly because I can never get my act together in time. This case is no different, as I am too late for the baby shower link-up and have messed up the instructions on what to do.
But. In honor of my friend Alison from Mama Wants This who is having her baby any minute now (well, just as soon as she goes into labor) I am including not a baby picture, but a toddler picture, and not just one picture, but four!
In for a penny, in for a pound, as they say.
We’re supposed to include favorite quotes so I googled some, having no favorites at the ready.
Darling Young Knight in his chicken-head phase:
“If you were to open up a baby’s head — and I am not for a moment suggesting that you should — you would find nothing but an enormous drool gland.”
Dave Barry
This quote was so funny (and fit the picture so well) that I had to include it, but lest my darling get a lesser share of quote than he deserves (being a middle child and all), here’s another quote to make up for it.
“Every baby born into the world is a finer one than the last.”
Charles Dickens
Young Lady on vacation in Florida before we moved to France:
“Babies don’t need a vacation but I still see them at the beach. I’ll go over to them and say, “What are you doing here, you’ve never worked a day in your life!”
Stephen Wright
Petit Prince in, not the most beautifully composed photo, but oh how it tugs at my heart strings:
“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”
Elizabeth Stone
And then, why not? Me and my brother Jeff at my uncle’s hippie wedding where they roasted a pig, which my brother thought was a dog.
“It kills you to see them grow up. But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn’t.”
Barbara Kingsolver
Right Mom? Right Dad?
Alison, may your labor be quick and painless and your nights full of sleep and sweet dreams, and may your bundle of joy fly straight from sweetness to responsibility, zipping right past those pesky teenage years.
Just kidding about that last bit. Sorta.

I love every photo, especially the last one, which brought back memories with the thermos you are getting a drink from, my family parties always had one of those!

I’m guessing the uncle you mentioned was on your moms side. Either that or I’m missing out on some good family stories. Very cute photos! <3

Oh my heart, little baby phases. Plus my boys had that hair – and I used to just pet them it was so soft.

Nicely done! Wonderful quotes to go with wonderful photos. What would we do without the mementos of our sweet babies?

You and your brother also wandered around among the guests begging for scraps of food , which they obligingly fed you.
