This is Part Two of our Disney Day. For Part One read here.
After our bellies were warmed, we headed over to the Peter Pan ride since the sign said the wait was just 35 minutes and the Fast Pass would have conflicted with our lunch.
And 35 minutes later . . .
we got to have the charming ride over the night London sky.
Petit Prince, so stoic in line, cried when the ride was over because we had waited so long for such a short trip.
Following that, we decided to go straight for Star Tours.
That was a lot of fun. For the uninitiated, it’s one of those rides where you stare at a movie screen showing outer space, and the “rocket” moves as if you’re really flying. I laughed the entire ride. (I also had a Petit Prince tightly gripping my hand, but determined to enjoy it).
We were really going to go straight over to Small World, but we saw Nautilus, the no-line undersea world.
And following that we went to Small World.
You forget that the song you will never get out of your head is completely charming to the little ones.
There is so much to see – so much moving color.
We were truly on our way to the train that would take us to Frontier Land when we saw the Casey Junior train.
So we stopped up for the short wait that would take us on this gentle roller-coaster.
Oh, and then we figured we may as well do Alice’s labyrinth so we did.
No chance of getting lost there.
And then we took the “steam” train
(and got choked by the diesel smell since we chose to sit in front). It was starting to get dark by the time we got off at Frontier Land, and the rickety wooden saloon area that we’d once had all to ourselves was starting to close so we couldn’t get in.
The Pirate’s Ship was also closed so we ran around the wooden bridges on Adventure Isle. (There’s also a nice big bathroom with plenty of clean stalls over there).
And even though it was drizzling and cold, it looked as though the Pirate’s of the Carribean ride wasn’t a very long wait, so we did that. It was kind of fun to wait in the passages as it grew dark. And the kids loved the ride.
From there we felt that our day was a crowning success and we deserved to go home. We traipsed through Main Street and got stuck at one of the crosswalks because of the parade. So we were “forced” to watch that.
And then we did the longish march back to the car (they close off the front entrances so you have to do a small detour past the movie theatres and shops in order to get to your destination).
There the kids ate their sandwiches and fell fast asleep while we inched our way through traffic.
Yes I complained a lot, and made fun a lot, but there’s a reason parents put up with Disney.

EuroDisney looks an awful lot like Disney World in Orlando Florida….so much the same that even the second mortgage on the house is required to go. But the magic that spreads to the faces of the little one’s, so worth every single penny!

It’s true – I played up being a grinch, but really I was the one who pushed to go.
Lia says
It sounds like it’s time for you all to watch the original Shrek movie! 😉
ladyjennie says
Why? Because of all the characters? Oh my kids probably know that one by heart!
Lia says
I think it was your comment about the song “Small World” that reminded me of Shrek… the movie makes a point about the song’s annoying ability to stick in one’s head.
ladyjennie says
Oh that’s right – I had totally forgotten about that.

Those are the best pictures I’ve ever seen come out of a Disney trip! Love those faces! I DID lose W. just as we came out of Alice’s labyrinth. It was the longest five minutes of my life! He had run off to the next big thrill while I was buckling O. into the stroller. I have one more thing to add to your recipe for success list: Wash/Sanitize Hands Often and Keep the Mouths off the Queue Barriers! Worst bug ever to come through our house was the “Disney Bug” that we caught at Disneyland Paris. O. got sick on the Eurostar on the way home and W. and I got it the next night. I’ve never experienced anything like it. Yikes! Glad your trip was a success!
ladyjennie says
Oh yes – hand sanitizer. What a nightmare trip home! We once had a gastro (stomach flu) coming home from VA to NY and we were stuck in a blizzard.

Having just take on Orlando’s Disney World over the summer it was fun to read your recipe for EuroDisney and to see that there are quite a few different rides! And your lines seemed much less intimidating! One of our saving graces was the Apps – I wonder if they are available for EuroDisney as well? Verizon has one Mobil Magic app for Disney Parks in the US and there’s an Undercover Tourist app for each park as well. We found them lifesaving as they accurately tell you the current wait times for rids and what time they are giving out fast passes for. Also helps finding eateries etc. I would think such a thing must exist for EuroDisney as well. Worth a look for the next time you get so brave!
It’s a world of laughter a world of cheers, it’s a world of hope and a world of fears… Just a little song for your head for today! 🙂
ladyjennie says
Good point! I’ll bet you anything they have an app for it, which – if I were more tech savvy I would have discovered).
Thanks for the song. Ahem.

Still trying to come up with the right ingredients…

Especially the 2nd mortgage right? 😉

I smiled when I came upon your blog today! I can relate to so much that it freaked me out for a minute! I am also always daydreaming of living in 19th century England (or France). I obsessively read historical novels from these eras. I speak French too. I love the language so much> I majored in Biology at college but took a lot of extra classes so I could also minor in French. I dream of living there one day. I have also battled severe depression and anxiety my whole life. I love how you said on your about page that you are still filled with hope despite your depression. Sorry to write all this on this post, but I didn’t see anywhere to write on your about page.
ladyjennie says
Hi Katie! Just left a comment on your blog. I think the theme I have doesn’t allow for comments on the pages, only on the posts (unfortunately). So happy to have a new friend. 🙂
Alison says
I love that you put it into an actual recipe format.
You have the perfect balance of American humor and French sass.
ladyjennie says
This gave me such a big smile. Thanks friend.
Kimberly says
Oh my son would have drooled over Star Whores. He loves himself some SyFy.
Yes, we do a lot of things so that we’re rewarded with those smiles and memories.
Stacia says
This brings back memories of our trip last March! And Peter Pan is so short, isn’t it?? But Small World is so enchanting, despite (because of?) the song.
PS: That last picture?? Sweetness.
Carole says
Oh yes, it’s worth the looks on the kids’ faces.
Now to get that awful Small World song out of my head. 😉
Jackie says
On a trip through It’s a Small World at Disney World in Orlando, the ride broke down for a bit. We were stuck in our boats while the workers tried to get us all moving again. But the dolls kept moving and spinning while we waited. And the song! The song kept playing over and over and over. We were there for about 15 minutes and I thought I would lose my mind.
ladyjennie says
My husband and I laughed together over this in sympathy.

These two posts qualify as Good Samaritan posts, yes sirreee they do. If only the Fast Track machines also dispensed patience lozenges, so that no one got snappish about any of it – mostly it’s the long wait for the short rides that tick me off. Also the forced traffic patterns through BUYMEBUYME land. Also… yeah. Me and amusement parks? not such a great combo. glad you survived
ladyjennie says
That buymebuyme area is something, isn’t it? So strategic and evil. 😉
