When a blogging friend comes to Paris – whom you’ve known for over two years online (and with whom you’ve already had two aborted attempts to meet up in the past, except that you couldn’t manage to extricate yourself from the daily grind) – you get over your hermit tendencies, and you GO INTO PARIS!
You go to the Champs Elysées, to be exact.
The Ladurée restaurant on the Champs Elysées, to be exacter.
This is Ameena.
Do you know her? She blogs at Fancy That, Fancy This in a funny, sardonic tone that doesn’t entirely hide her generous heart. (She will protest about the generous heart part, but there you have it). And yes, she is as gorgeous in real life as she is online.
We studied the menus.
She ate the bread, while I drooled.
(Just teasing you, Ameena – I made up for it with some stale gluten-free bread at home).
She ate a salad with crab meat.
I ate a salad with artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes.
We drank water with our salads, like good French people should.
And we chatted as if we had known each other forever. If you want to have a glimpse into our conversation, just read Ameena’s blog. She’s pretty much the same in real life as she is online . . .
which has pretty much been my experience across the board.
Here’s to blogging friendships!

I need to do a better job at developing those blogging friendships, though I do have a few. I just find it hard enough to write weekly, let alone go visit all the writers I admire. Still, it would be great to meet some of those writers in person, including you, Jennie.

You are unbelievably generous with your kind words Jennie! I do not deserve such a great post.
I had the most fantastic time chatting with you! I can’t wait to do it again.
Thanks again for making the trek. Means a lot that you gave up your hermit tendencies for me. 🙂

PS : I kept thinking we should have taken a picture with the two of us…Ali confirmed I am an idiot for not doing so.
Sorry about that. 🙁

I thought about that too, but then hesitated, not knowing if you wanted to or who we should ask. I’m a dummy. 🙂

How wonderful that you got to meet a blogging friend! And in Paris! What a great place to make an in-real-life connection with an online friend.
