When it rains out, the dog still needs to be walked.
William came with me because his teacher (actually his whole elementary school) was on strike. Again.
He didn’t seem to mind the rain one bit, and I changed him into clean, dry clothes straight away upon entering, and he settled down with his Nintendo.
I don’t mind the rain either when I can come in and put on clean, dry clothes myself, and then settle down with a warm chicory and milk.
Of course I like it much better when Matthieu walks the dog.
I had such a happy day. I did the grocery shopping yesterday, which meant that I had time to clean the floors and bathrooms today. I know that doesn’t sound like much fun, but I put music on and worked in peace (with nobody saying mommy? every minute) and now it’s all sparkly!
And then my friend Anne came over for lunch (we made buckwheat galettes, recipe here). And she told me that she’s discovered a new passion. Of giving massages!
It’s not a far stretch from what she does right now – she’s a nurse’s aid and is used to being hands-on. But she decided she wants to do this full time and is searching for a school. This was news to me.
But she came with her massage table
and asked if she could practice on me!
Can you believe my luck? One hour professional massage (I seriously couldn’t tell she doesn’t have formal training) for FREE!
If you’re in the Paris area, she’s looking for people to practice on for cheap, cheap, cheap.
The gloominess in a rainy autumn can be pretty. Our climbing vine is changing colours and losing it’s leaves.
The path is scattered with leaves from the ash and linden trees.
The grape vine remains charming, in spite of the fact that it’s starting to look wimpy and pathetic without its lush foliage and clusters of grapes.
Well there are clusters of grapes, but . . .
And then the ground cover is taking advantage of all the rainfall to creep through the bark I put down to cover it. Rogue ground cover.
I’m enjoying all of this from the inside. I have to prepare a circus birthday party for 12 five year olds which will take place tomorrow. (help)
And then I’m going to be curled up for the next week working on my book and getting it ready for publishing. You might have noticed (if you blog) that I’ve been MIA. Well, next week I’m going to be MIA on my own blog because the manuscript is due Friday. So I’ll see you Monday the 25th and I’m sure we’ll have tons to catch up on.
Hope your week has plenty of SUN!

Confession : I just adore the smell of Fall. That earthy, sweet smell… Rain I don’t like so much though since my basement tends to flood when it rains too much.
