Hi everyone. I’m really only writing because I wanted to continue to flex my (mental) writing muscles at a time when it feels like all my words were whisked away.
And it’s also to tell you about a couple of things. Juliet and Gabriel played a (tiny) duet last night. This was immediately after Juliet’s dance exam under an external jury. She passed to the next level (I’m not super surprised). Gabriel also did very well in his trumpet exam. The judge asked when he’d be joining the Opéra de Paris school. 🙂 (I’m a proud mama)
William lost one of his front teeth.
This is us waiting in the doctor’s office. He had been having some stomach problems lately and she’s recommending us to get him tested for allergies. William plays cello, which is a harder instrument to master, particularly in the beginning. He’s less enthusiastic than his brother and sister about instruments (and sports), but we’re going to keep going, mainly because his teacher is just so great. I would let him choose a different instrument, but I’m not sure he’d be more enthusiastic so it’s better to stick with what we know.
My book was featured on On My Kindle. You can read the short feature article and snippet by clicking here. Charity has a good website with book reviews and book features. You can sign up for her newsletter there if you like to discover fresh books.
Here’s another piece of book news I wanted to let you know about. The Viscount of Maisons-Laffitte is available this week (through Friday) on the Amazon UK site for .99. I didn’t know this was a possibility – running two promotions at the same time (on the US and UK sites). So there is a delay in the UK promotion, but it’s here now.
If you’re in the UK and have considered reading my book, you can get it for cheap! 🙂 Link is here. Will you kindly remember to leave a review? Amazon looks at the # of reviews when deciding whether to show the book to potential readers. Thanks!
We still have no word on when or if the construction will pick back up again. I have surrendered to this, and have called in some help on the spring cleaning. Just because we have mold and plaster falling and a huge hole in our living room wall, it doesn’t mean we can’t have clean windows.
Back when the sun was shining for those brief two days, our peonies bloomed. I’ve been back outside to see them since just once, and all the petals were on the ground. But we have this picture of one of my favourite blooms ever.
I’m still having some blog problems and will probably switch hosts again. I’m sorry in advance for any missing blogs or repeat blogs that you might get by e-mail. I hope it will be a smoother transition this time around.
And that’s a wrap on our news. I haven’t been able to work on my novel much. But I’m going to work on it today, regardless of how I feel. That’s what writers do.

it sounds as if you are having an extremely busy week, a bit like it is here! But the sun has returned to the Charente Maritime, oh I cannot tell you how good it felt to draw the curtains this morning and to see the room flooded with sunlight, and it’s here to stay, we are eating lunch outside!

What a perfect peony! At least you can take solace in your garden.

I hope the stomach problems are not serious. Des has what we call TLS – Tender Little Stomach. And it’s not attached to any one kind of food, but he just gets nervous sometimes. I think it has to do with potty-training. Anyway, I hate stomach problems for kids!

Oh, that duet is lovely! Trumpet is such a hard instrument, I’m really impressed.
So jealous that you can grow peonies. Too warm here for them.
