Oh, it’s a (not so) lazy Sunday afternoon, and I’m supposed to be working on my chapter for tomorrow, but there are a few pictures of the brood I wanted to show you. Well, let’s start at the top with Juliet. There was an open house for her dance class.
She did great, as usual.
She’s got a “convocation” in two weeks to see if she can pass on to the next level.
I shouldn’t be worried, but since I needed to put her in a higher class on Wednesdays so I could teach English (which falls during her own class time), she hasn’t learned the steps she’s supposed to learn. I do hope she can move on.
Of course, they changed everything around so my planned English classes will fall right when she is supposed to have class next year as well (arrrgh!). It is SO HARD to balance all the kids’ activities, especially if you have your own extra-curricular obligations, like giving English classes.
Okay, nothing can be done about the quality of the next two photos, but let me just say that it’s a gorgeous day out today (finally), and the kids have friends over. So naturally they are …
in front of the TV!!
No, no, they actually played outside for four hours so we’ll turn a blind eye.
Otherwise, our Petit Prince is such a cool character
he’s even chillin’ when he sleeps.
Moving on to the animals … Hunter has made friends – that big guy is Hagrid.
Nothing makes a dog owner happier than seeing a happy dog.
And since we’re making our way down the food chain,
this little escargot has found a beautiful place to rest.
Apparently we’re running a Bed and Breakfast here.

The pictures of the dogs running is so cute! I love it! And your daughter looks so graceful and lovely there, in ballet. It’s so hard to balance everything…that’s kind of one of the reasons my kids are only in one or two activities, and that’s been in the summer so far. I pretty much have to do it alone, because my husband is always a work during that time, or I have to beg my dad to babysit. It’s tough. Love the sleeping picture, too! Adorable!

I limit too, believe it or not. But even if I do one sport and one instrument, they have to do music theory and chorale on top of it because it’s part of the conservatory rules. And then all my English classes are held after school and on weekends, with everything shutting down for the summer (so no swim lessons, for instance). It’s really hard to fit it all in.

Thank you! I think the snail took on the purple hue of the iris. Not sure if it’s actually that color. 🙂 Everything is closed on Sundays in France, as you know, so you almost have no choice but to be lazy.

Activities are difficult to manage no matter how hard we try to limit them. It seems they all fall on the same days, don’t they?
Love seeing that your kids watch TV when they could be playing outside! Mine do the same thing, and I let it go most times. Some of my favorite memories of childhood are watching TV too, admittedly…

I used to love watching TV too – such a guilty pleasure even as a kid. Of course we watched less cartoons and more Gilligan’s Island, etc. My head is spinning with these activities (still trying to work out some solutions even today). I won’t be at rest until I know what we’re getting into.

Hagrid! I love it… what a perfect name for that dog!
The positions that kids sleep in are always entertaining to me.

You should see him when he bounds up and down in the grass – just to die for. He’s still a puppy too.

Oh that is a happy puppy 🙂
All your pictures are so beautiful, but the one’s of your DD brought a little tear to my eye. She looks so grown up and graceful!

I do. It’s a way to make a little extra on the side. My classes are in the home outside of school hours, which is both a plus and a minus.

Hello Miss Jennie — love these festive peeks into your French life which I envy so much. And thank you for posting the picture of your kids watching TV, it makes me feel like less of an Asshat mom. xo

I wish that I could bend like that. Dayyyum.
And I will come to your place to take out that snail. I’m good at murdering them with my favourite shoes.

Cruel, cruel lady. But don’t worry, my kids are hard-hearted; They throw them to the ground and smash them (which we need to do because they destroy everything).
