I am finally getting to launch an idea I’ve had since I’ve started this new blog, which is to include you, the readers, in a series of guest posts. Everyone remembers their first trip to Paris, don’t they? You can suffer the most austere snubs of your life, but you can’t deny the history, the beauty or the fabulous pastries.
It is with great pleasure that I present my very first guest Pearls & Prose. I visit her blog regularly to get a dose of balm for my eyes. I might be met with soothing colors or vibrant ones, and in any subject matter whatsoever. But in everything, Ms. Pearl has a way of portraying the beauty of life in the great and small things.
She has gracefully accepted to guest post here and meticulously scanned all her film from her last trip over ten years ago. Please do visit her here; your eyes will not be disappointed.
And without further ado …
Paris is one of my favorite cities, and I think Lady Jennie is really lucky to be living there. I never get tired of this view of the Eiffel Tower taken from the Arc de Triomphe just before sunset.
I think Paris has some of the most beautiful doors in the world. Whether they’re of hand-carved wood set in lovely old stone…
Or simply painted in that inimitable French blue, they’re works of art, in my opinion.
I also love the windows of Paris with their wrought iron, window boxes and lace curtains.
How I wish I could re-create this look in the U.S., but it’s just not the same.
Even the radishes are beautiful in Paris. The markets on rue Mouffetard are a must, especially if you like eating and photographing great food.
For me, one of the things that embodies Paris is the Citroën “Deux Chevaux.” I prefer them old and faded, but I wouldn’t turn down this bright red version either.
I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse of Lady Jennie’s amazing city.

I have been to France twice and consider myself lucky. I hope to go again someday soon….I love the old Citroens, the doors, the flower boxes. Le sigh. Je t’aime, Paris!
Love this idea and looking forward to the next installment!

Awe . . . ok, ok . . . I have officially added Paris to my list of places I MUST see … can I do Italy and France on the same trip? I guess it all depends on how much time I’ve got, huh?
So lovely. I feel like I’ve take a mini-vaca right now, and these are the very same things I would have loved had I been there myself! Great idea, Lady Jennie! And thank YOU, Ms. Pearl!

Why, of course you must visit France when you visit Italy. That’s a no-brainer! 🙂

Love this post! Love your idea! Brings back memories of my first trip to Paris which was a lovely and memorable one thanks to a certain gracious hostess. Matt and I still talk about that trip and our visit to this day. Of course, we can’t wait to go back. Such an amazing city…

My first visit to Paris in 2000 was my only visit — sad for me! I was a high school teacher on a limited budget and still had a wonderful visit. My photos are packed up right now (from last year’s attempt to sell our house), but someday when I unearth them, I’d love to guest post. Of course, my photos pale in comparison to the beautiful ones Ms. Pearl shared. The radishes. The blue door. Be still my heart.

Paris will always have a special place in my heart. Although I’ve been there as a tourist few times-it was quite different time when I lived there…
