This might possibly not interest anyone other than me, but I’m waxing philosophical along with Liz and Jessica for their week-long Summer Blog Social hosted by them (thank you for that) and linked up to by me.
By waxing philosophical, I mean that I’m choosing the prompt that asks where we see our blog 6 months from now, a year from now.
The truth is, I’m feeling blog lonely. I was away for about a month between kitchen construction, visits and travel and my comments have dwindled down to … (sob) practically nothing. Waaa. Aren’t I the kind of blog people are just dying to comment on even if they don’t get return comments? No?
Alright. Self delusion over.
I’m also feeling lonely because I’m not going to BlogHer and everyone who is anyone is going (oh, except those of you who are not going – I don’t mean to imply anything of course). So blog hopping sounds good to me right about now; I may make some new friends along the way.
It’s going to be a looooong summer.
So. Six months from now, twelve months from now … it’s almost the same goal for me even if it takes longer than a year. It’s probably good to identify it, right? What’s that saying? If you aim at nothing you hit it every time?
I am a life blogger. Being in France, being a mom – all of that is almost an afterthought. I write about life, and with experiences like this and this I don’t always write humorous posts, even though (I know, I know) that’s what the masses like best. After all, who doesn’t like to laugh?
And while I don’t see myself stopping writing about life issues, I do see myself doing more food posts – food photography, tutorials and French recipes made simple. People seem to like them and I sure like doing them. Let’s see, there’s the macarons, the gluten free brownies, the rabbit stew, the zucchini flowers, to name a few.
So a goal for me? Well definitely more regular posts on the subject and … a cookbook or something (here’s where you come in – if you’re inspired to try the recipe, will you please let me know how it is and if it can be improved upon?
And if my cooking is rubbish can you please disillusion me quickly so that I might apply for that cashier position while it’s still available)?
And I would like to speak somewhere, or be sponsored, or have an all expenses paid family vacation to Maui.
And maybe attend a conference … like BlogHer!
Anyway, welcome all new visitors from the Summer Blog Social. I’m so happy you stopped by.

Hi Christi! We live near Paris, but I also lived in the South when I was 19 for a semester abroad. Do come back – I’m always plugging people to visit France. 🙂
Mommy's Paradise says
He he, I like your goal for getting sponsored with a all paid family vacation in Maui, even though I have the island life all the time, Hawaii sounds wonderful, or France for a change. 😉
And I like the idea of food posts, btw, I love french cuisine, just go for it, slowly at first and you’ll see how it’s catching up.
ladyjennie says
Is island life all it’s cracked up to be?

Jennie,
You are so funny! Honestly, I think everyone’s comments are down, mostly b/c it’s summertime and we’re all so busy. Also? I’m in a blogging slump of my own which means I’ve not been posting as much—which in turn means not not reading/commenting much. And there’s also the pregnancy thing which throws a huge wrench in the gears.
Anyway, I love your blog. I need to come by more often and am sorry I haven’t. But it’s NOT YOU!!! I am just swamped. And uninspired. And looking like a beached whale.
p.s. your cooking isn’t rubbish.
p.p.s. I am not going to BlogHer, either.

I like Life bloggers, so I will be back (I came over from the Summer Blog Social.) Right now my dilemma is whether or not to click on the macaron recipe. They are one of my favorite things ever. But I don’t NEED to eat a (half batch) of macarons. Decisions decisions…
Alexandra says
I wish the blogging world could discover the special site you have here.
julie gardner says
I may have mentioned this before but I find you and your blog special.
(in a good way. not the “special” with quotation marks that implies “problematic”…)
AND I found you through Alexandra ~ so her wish has come true.
You are simply wonderful.
Just as you are.
And I will keep coming back no matter what.
(for six months and even longer.)

Aw shucks my friend. Let’s meet up next year at BlogHer kay? I’m going to try to go.
ladyjennie says
You are a darling dear.

I went away for three days and my pageviews were half what they would have been if I had been visiting.
Food sounds like a wonderful thing to write about.

Hello from Summer Blog Social! I am no stranger to dwindling comments these days. And if I’m being honest, sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated to continue blogging if I feel like no one is reading. Looking forward to reading more throughout the week!
ladyjennie says
I came by – don’t give up. 🙂 You have a very cute blog design.
Caren with a "C" says
Okay, now I don’t feel so bad about comment count. I want to try your Macarons as I saw a class for learning how to make them, but it was expensive. I enjoy reading about your adventures in France!
ladyjennie says
Please let me know how the Macarons turn out!
Ado says
Well I’m not going to Blogher either and this is the 1st time I’ve visited your blog – the wonderful title got my attention, I was trolling through the blog hop posts – so here is a new comment from a new reader. (-:
I haven’t taken a look at your recipes yet so no advice on that front.
I love Paris and France! We were just there 3 mos. ago. I went to the Sorbonne for a term! Had my 21st birthday in Paris – oh ze memories. You are lucky to get to live in France. (-:
Bye for now
ladyjennie says
Thanks for visiting – I’m happy you had such good memories in La France. Let me pop by and visit your blog.
ladyjennie says
Well you’re someone to me! I was just teasing when I wrote that and hope everyone saw my tongue in cheek.
The Flying Chalupa says
You are tres adorable. And, excuse me, look how many comments you have! I do regret not having dropped by sooner – I’m just trying to keep my head above water (and must reconcile myself to this position for a while), but I will miss you at BlogHer! The next BlogHer really should be in Paris, don’t you agree?
ladyjennie says
Oh don’t worry – I was MIA too there for awhile. Just have fun at BlogHer, and YES, why I DO think it should be held in Paris next year. Just put the word in for me kay? 😉
Cheryl D. says
What a beautiful blog you have! As you indicated, comments will increase when you post on other people’s blogs!
I hope you can go to BlogHer (or another conference) next year!
ladyjennie says
Thank you Cheryl! I do plan to try and coincide our US trip next year with the timing of BlogHer so that I can go.
Jessica says
I will take the trip to Maui too please! And I would also like your cooking talents, I burn everything.
liz says
Now I wanna see the kitchen remodel photos!! LOVE me a good remodel!
Don’t be sad about BlogHer; we’re all in this together! 🙂
Jamee @ A New Kind of Normal says
You had me at gluten-free brownies! Je t’aime!
If you find out how to get a sponsored trip to Maui, please share the details! LOL!
Oh and you can’t talk about a kitchen remodel and not show pics!
ladyjennie says
I know! I know! But my workers went away on vacation for the month of August like the rest of France. And I’m the only one left here.
(PS – thanks for visiting!)
Jackie says
Don’t feel bad about the comments. Mine have been down too…. must be summer vacation time I suppose.
I have new goal too…. get sponsored so I can go to BlogHer next year. Simple, right? Now I just need to figure out where to start!
ladyjennie says
I’m with you Jackie – let me know if you find anything out.

Bonjour! Living in France–I’m sure the reality is like living anywhere else, filled with chores and lists and unwritten posts, but the sound of it “living in France” has a glamor that, say, “living in Des Moines” just doesn’t have. Your food posts have beautiful photos–but I love food blogs that mix in life outside the kitchen with recipes, so I’d encourage you (not that you know me, or even really asked my opinion) to keep the mix of travel/life/musings AND food.
ladyjennie says
You crack me up! And encourage me so thank you so much for that. 🙂
Julie says
I love your blog and am soooo happy I found it through Summer Blog Social! 🙂 And I’m totally bumming about not being at BlogHer this year… so next year if you go to BlogHer, I totally want to meet up with you! 🙂
ladyjennie says
Thank you! It’s so lovely to have you. 🙂 Okay so it’s a date for BlogHer next year!
Jane says
You are one of my fav bloggers! I agree that summer keeps us all so busy and away from the computer as much so definitely affecting our readers. I launched my blog June 1, and am finding some regular readers, but many post on my FB where it’s linked rather than on my blog! 🙂 I would love for you to guest on my Friday Foodie blog if ever so inclined. I enjoyed your guest post at Joy in the Journey! Excellent! The fall will soon be upon us and hopefully people will find themselves with a little more blog reading time!
ladyjennie says
Thank you so much for your encouragement Jane! I would be thrilled to do a Friday foodie post for you. I’ll have to think of something nice and healthy. 😉
