THE VISCOUNT OF MAISONS LAFFITTE
CHAPTER NINE
The Viscount was seated in the comfortable library in the Town Hall – the Mairie. He was following the discussion of the committee members, while simultaneously reviewing a research document that he had brought home from work.
He looked up from his papers, and took the bottle of water to unscrew the cap before filling the crystal glass in front of him on the table. He drank it one go, and then didn’t look up again until they began talking about the art collection in the local museum. This was the reason he was here. He considered his involvement in the racetrack and the forest as a civic duty, but it was the museum and the art collection in the town that was a passion for him.

🙂
P.S. I love your words. They are so elegant.

Thank you dear friend. Coming back to it a week later, I can see all the faults, of course. Perhaps not the best idea to put my raw material out there, but I fear it’s the only way I can get motivated to do it.

This reminds me of the timeless history romances I breathlessly used to read when I was younger. Great job.
